Gagnoa: cocoa, coffee and the Bété country.

Gagnoa is the centre of the Bété region and one of the main cocoa and coffee towns of the centre-west. It is a lively provincial city with a substantial market and very few visitors, and its interest is precisely that: an Ivorian town going about its business, in the middle of the country that produces more cocoa than anywhere on earth. 280 kilometres from Abidjan.

A working town in the cocoa belt
Nobody goes to Gagnoa for monuments. It is a provincial city in the heart of the cocoa and coffee belt, culturally the centre of the Bété, and worth a stop for the market and for the plantations around it. In harvest season, October to March, beans dry along the roadside for kilometres.
