Sassandra sits where the river of the same name meets the Atlantic, on cliffs above a working fishing harbour. It has crumbling colonial buildings, a wharf, and a string of bays either side that are among the finest on the Ivorian coast and almost entirely empty. 270 kilometres from Abidjan, and the natural halfway stop on the way to San-Pédro.
