How many days do you need for Ivory Coast?

A week covers the coast comfortably — Abidjan, Grand-Bassam and Assinie, around 400 kilometres with a small car. Ten days allows Yamoussoukro and the north, or the west, at around 1,400 kilometres with an SUV.

What is a good one-week itinerary for Ivory Coast?

Day 1 arrive in Abidjan, day 2 Abidjan, day 3 Grand-Bassam, day 4 to Assinie, days 5 and 6 Assinie, day 7 back to Abidjan and depart.

Can you visit both the west and the north of Ivory Coast in one trip?

Not comfortably. Man and Korhogo are each a full day from Abidjan and a long day from each other. Choose one.

How fast can you drive in Ivory Coast?

On the A3 motorway you make good progress. On national roads reckon on 50 to 60 km/h including checkpoints and town crossings.

Is it safe to drive at night in Ivory Coast?

Best avoided between towns. Unlit vehicles, potholes and animals on the road make night driving the main risk. Plan intercity journeys for daylight.

Distances here are driving times rather than kilometres, and the commonest planning mistake is trying to do the west and the north in the same trip. These two routes are what we would do ourselves — one along the coast, one through the centre and north — with realistic days and honest driving times.
