Where to go in Ivory Coast: destinations by region.

Four landscapes in one country: a lagoon coast with UNESCO towns and empty beaches, a cocoa belt with the political capital and one of the largest churches in the world, mountains with liana bridges in the west, and savanna with Senufo craft in the north. This page sets out what is where, how far it is, and what vehicle the road needs — because here, driving time matters far more than distance.

Distances are hours, not kilometres
On the A3 motorway to Yamoussoukro you make good progress. On national roads reckon on 50 to 60 km/h including checkpoints and town crossings, and considerably less on tracks in the rainy season. Six hundred kilometres is a full day, not half of one. We advise against driving between towns at night — plan overnight stops, and we will suggest where.
