Guiglo: the gateway to Taï National Park.

Guiglo is a town in the forested west whose significance for travellers is almost entirely what lies beyond it: Taï National Park, the largest surviving block of primary rainforest in West Africa and a UNESCO world heritage site. Five hundred kilometres from Abidjan, and the base from which park visits are arranged.

The park is the point
Guiglo itself is a working town in the forest belt. What brings people here is Taï National Park, and that needs a permit and a guide arranged in advance through the park authority — you cannot turn up at the gate. Tell us early if this is on your list; it is the part of a trip here that takes the most preparation.
