The country has more than forty towns of over fifty thousand people, and each region works differently: the lagoon coast in the south, the cocoa belt in the centre, the mountains in the west, savanna in the north, cross-border trade in the east. This page orders them by region with distances from Abidjan and what you find there. On the A3 motorway to Yamoussoukro you make good time. On national roads reckon on 50 to 60 km/h including checkpoints, and much less on tracks in the rains. Six hundred kilometres is a full day. We advise against night driving between towns.
